callie_b's book review was featured in Game On! (Star Striker).
Talented soccer player and 7th grader Albert Kinney just dropped his travel team so he could focus all his time on making the school team. Things aren't going great with him and his friend Trey on the travel team, so he's hoping things will be better if they play together for the school team. Albert thinks his life is over when he doesn't make the team... but later that night he gets transported to another alien planet named Zeenod, who tells Albert they want HIM to be the Star Striker for their soccer team! Albert is in disbelief over the whole series of events, because how do you even react when you get teleported to an alien planet and asked to play soccer with them?! Albert agrees but is told he must keep the whole thing a secret, or he could get his memory wiped permanently. Adapting to the new planet and robots like his advisor Unit B is difficult, but it's a challenge Albert is excited to take on. But something sinister is happening in the galaxy, someone trying to stop Albert from being part of the Zeenod's team, and possibly eliminate him. But why? Will Albert persevere through the different conflicts in his life on the alien soccer team and on earth? And can he keep it a secret from the rest of the world? I thought this book was super interesting with the whole new galaxy introduced and the different types of aliens Albert encounters throughout the story. This humorous and thrilling book kept me on the edge of my seat! I would recommend this book to anyone who loves soccer and adventure!

callie_b's book review was featured in Soccer Trophy Mystery (Fred Bowen Sports Story Series, 24).
Have you ever tried to find a stolen trophy while trying to win a place on one? Twins Aiden and Ava and their friend Daniel all love to play soccer and they also love mysteries and adventures. As they all compete for the top spot in their soccer leagues to win the coveted spot on the trophy in the library, the friends also try to solve an old town mystery in which the original soccer trophy was stolen from the library 40 years ago. The friends wonder if it's even worth digging up this old mystery, but are intrigued to find out why anyone would want to steal a kids soccer trophy! Tensions rise with the case as they talk to old coaches and town figures who seem suspiciously unhappy with the kids looking for the trophy. Pressure also intensifies on the soccer field as the game that will decide who is at the top of the league is coming up! With an unexpected twist at the end of the story, the friends will have to go above and beyond on the field and with the mystery to uncover the truth of the missing soccer trophy. I really enjoyed reading this book because as a soccer player myself, the action-packed soccer game scenes in the book were super entertaining and I could picture it just as if I was playing soccer with them! I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys soccer and a good mystery!

"Hey what's up I'm a superhero." - Shazam! For a DC movie, Shazam! is pretty good, but it's still not great. The plot is decent and the characters are OK, but it also feels very cheesy. In most superhero movies the final battle against the supervillain is usually interesting, but it is probably one of the worst parts of this movie. I would probably rate this movie 3.5/5 popcorn, but I would only recommend if you were a huge DC fan or something.
