Carter and Sadie Kane haven't been the same since their mother's death. Carter travels the world with their dad Julius Kane, and Sadie lives in London with her grandparents. Everything changes when Julius takes them to a museum on their one of two days annual meet. He sets free the Egyptian god Set, who banishes him and forces the siblings to run. After, they find out that the world of Egyptian gods are awakening, and the worst of them, Set is after them and domination of the rest of the world. Carter and Sadie must go on an epic quest to stop him, but also find out many secrets about them and their family. I connected to this book because I related how it was to see a distant family member after some years. I give this book 5 stars because the story plot is tremendous, and the timeline and the character traits all fit in well together.About 4 years agoabi_k_12 added a book review.

I did a project on this book, there are five waves. The first wave is no power, the second wave is water wiping out everything, the third wave the red death, the fourth wave silencers, and last the fifth wave an army of child soldiers. I made one connection to the book it was text to text, it was another book on an apocalypse. I rate this book four stars, because it had a lot of death, it said about 97% of the population was wiped out in the third wave and most of the rest when they blew up Camp Haven. The book was nothing like the movie.About 4 years agoabi_k_12 added a book review.
In the 1841, Manjiro and his friends are out fishing in Japan, but a huge storm comes by! They get stuck on an island, and things seem bleak for them. Awhile later, an American ship comes and saves them! They are taken to Hawaii and they can't understand English, or know where they come from. Manjiro leaves to go to America with the captain, but his friends stay behind. He meets friends, has some confrontations, and takes responsibility for his life, but in all is still very homesick. Will he ever get home? Read Heart of a Samurai to find out. I connected to this book, because I understand how Manjiro felt when he felt homesick and wanted to go back to Japan. I rate this book 5 stars because it gives you the dates of every new chapter, and the development and story line is enticing and hard to put down.About 4 years agoabi_k_12is now following peytonestrada.
