I get to read all day, which is great. My mom is mostly the one who teaches me, but my dad does a little too. It is interesting, because my brother who is 2 years younger does a lot of the same stuff as me.Almost 2 years agomireeka replied to a comment in

As the next Chalice, Mirasol SHOULD have been apprenticed to the last one, but it didn't happen. And she doesn't have an experienced Master to help her, either, due to the fire that killed him and his Chalice together. Instead, the new master is a former Priest of Fire, and well.... there are issues. The new master can burn something by the touch of a hand if he isn't careful. The problem is made worse by the fact that nobody except Mirasol trusts the new Master. Mirasol has to take on the difficult task of bringing unity to the demesne. Will she succeed, or will she make the problem worse? Like all of Robin McKinley's books, the world building is excellent. In my opinion, Spindle's End has better worldbuilding, but this book really incorporates it into the plot. I liked this book better than Spindle's end overall, though.Almost 2 years agomireeka added a book review.
Harry's summer has been pretty bad. Of course, they always are, since he lives with the Dursleys, a family that hates him, but other years have been better. It helps that the Dursleys are on a diet which involves eating only a quarter of a grapefruit for breakfast, and of course Harry gets the smallest piece. He is helped by his friends, who send him food by owl, but he can't wait when he gets and invitation from his friend Ron to go see the Quidditch World Cup. And he loves Quidditch, too. But, things go a bit different than planned after the Quidditch cup. And when they get to Hogwarts, things are also a bit different from usual, but this time in a good way. While this isn't my favorite book in the series, it is still good. I read it for the second time recently. Also, please do not read this to your little brothers and sisters (assuming they are under eight). The book is mostly fine for little kids, but the ending is sort of intense. There is blood, it is scary, and did I mention that somebody dies? (I will tell you they aren't Harry's friend, but still....) Oh, and I forgot to mention there are a few curse words scattered throughout the book, but not enough to bother me.Over 2 years agomireeka has read this book.
